Rent A Sub - just £45 per page

For a small businesses offering editorial production as one of its core skills, this article proved very interesting reading in the Planet Ink Ltd offices this morning.

Given our staff are all recruited from the Nationals, it is something we could very easily offer to Scottish or UK papers looking to outsource various supplements and the like and at similar cost. The bonus being we could also lob in digital editions as part of the package.

But if businesses really are to go down this route, how will this then displace staff subs or even artists already being squeezed by new technologies?

I find it more interesting that the service was offered abroad: was it a case that no one in the UK would touch it in a case of solidarity for their colleagues?

There's a lot of things that companies - particularly in Scotland - could offer at the expense of others in mainstream media. So far, they seem to have chosen not to. Why is another question...
