Journalists across The Herald, Sunday Herald and Glasgow Evening Times have been put on 90-day notice of redundancy after the company announced to staff today that the three titles will operate as a single news gathering operation.
Between 30 - 40 posts are expected to go and all remaining staff told to re-apply for a series of positions to be created under new contracts, working conditions and pay.
As
predicted last month the titles will adopt a 24/7 approach from a single operation taking in the web, evening, daily and Sunday titles.
Headed up by Editor-in-Chief Donald Martin, current Evening Times deputy editor Tony Carlin becomes head of content with Richard Walker, currently in charge of the Sunday Herald, being made Weekend Editor in charge of the Saturday and Sunday editions.
At a mass meeting today, Martin said he expected some 200 journalists to remain.
The NUJ is expecting to consult members over the moves having suspended a work-to-rule earlier this week pending talks.
It comes a day before the deadline for voluntary redundancies expires at the Daily Record and Sunday Mail.
