Hello and welcome to my weblog.

After almost two decades studying and working in UK journalism, this is the place where I post stories, comment and random opinion.

It's up to you how seriously you do or don't take it, but I hope it at least helps generate some thinking.

In the course of my career I've worked for various UK national titles including the Daily Mirror, People and Scottish Daily Record in roles ranging from reporter to news editor, associate news editor and deputy editor.

My current involvement is as a journalist and media consultant, currently working as Consulting Managing Editor for one of Scotland's largest multi-media content providers, Deadline Press & Picture Agency in Edinburgh, along with other projects.

As you'll see from some of my blog posts, I also have a strong interest in digital and multi media platforms, and about helping educate the next generation of news journalists to understand how old tricks can be made to work with new technology.
